Tax-Smart Ways to Give

The following donation methods allow you to make an impact at STC while enjoying special tax benefits.
  • A donor-advised fund is an investment fund that provides tax-free growth for cash and non-cash assets that you’ve set aside for philanthropic purposes. You also receive an immediate tax deduction upon contributing to the fund.
  • Recommend a one-time or recurring grant to Shakespeare Theatre Company to support our mission through your DAF.
  • STC’s tax identification number is 52-1405988.
  • Please note that according to tax regulations, any gift made through a DAF is not eligible to receive Opening Night benefits due to the goods and services value associated.
  • If you are over the age of 70 ½, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly from your IRA without paying income tax on the distribution. If you have a Required Minimum Distribution, your gift to STC will help you fulfill that requirement while making an impact on our mission.
  • To make a gift through your IRA, you can either write a check from your IRA account or have your administrator issue a payment to Shakespeare Theatre Company using the address listed above.
  • Please note that according to tax regulations, any gift made through a QCD is not eligible to receive Opening Night benefits due to the goods and services value associated.
Unlike selling stock for cash, a direct stock donation is not subject to capital gains or state income taxes. And, like most charitable donations, stock donations are deductible from your income taxes. Use this information to make a stock gift to STC.
If you have any questions or need assistance with tax-smart giving methods, call 202.608.6350 Monday-Friday from 10am-5pm or email SupportSTC@ShakespeareTheatre.org.

Employer Matching Gifts

Many employers will match tax-deductible charitable contributions made by their employees, retirees, and employees’ spouses. An Employer Matching Gift is a great way to double or triple the impact of your recent gift while unlocking new perks and increasing your behind-the-scenes access to STC programming.
