Getting There
Public Transportation
To reach Carter Barron Amphitheatre by Metro, ride the Red
Line to the Silver Spring Station and transfer to an S2 or S4 Metrobus with a "Federal
Triangle" destination sign. Or ride the Blue
or Orange
Line to the McPherson Square Station and transfer to an S2 or S4 Metrobus with
a "Silver Spring", "16th & Colorado", "14th & Aspen", or "16th & Eastern" destination
sign. The Amphitheatre is a 5-minute walk from the bus stop at 16th Street and
Colorado Avenue NW.

Cab drivers may not know how to get to Carter Barron and should
be given specific directions when called.
Parking
Carter Barron Amphitheatre is located in Washington, DC's Rock
Creek Park at 16th Street & Colorado Avenue NW. We recommend that you take Metro
to Carter Barron. The Amphitheatre does have a limited number of free parking
spaces, but they fill up quickly. If you drive, you may want to carpool to make
parking easier. Please be aware that parking regulations are strictly enforced
on the surrounding neighborhood streets as well as in the parking lot. Cars parked
illegally are always
ticketed and/or towed. Throughout your visit to Carter Barron Amphitheatre, please
join us in showing respect to those who live in the neighborhood.
Driving Directions
From Maryland
Silver Spring
From the beltway, take exit 30, Colesville Road south and turn left onto 16th
Street. Turn right on Kennedy Street or Colorado Avenue. Follow signs for Carter
Barron Amphitheatre.
College Park
From the beltway, take exit 23, Kenilworth Avenue south, and turn right on the
East-West Highway (Route 410). Turn left on Riggs Road NE, which becomes Missouri
Avenue NW. Follow Missouri Avenue and turn left onto Kennedy Street. At 16th
Street follow signs for Carter Barron Amphitheatre.
Andrews Air Force Base
From the beltway, take exit 11, Pennsylvania Avenue SE north over the John Phillip
Sousa Bridge. Exit left onto the South-West Freeway. Continue westbound and exit
onto 12th Street northbound. Follow 12th Street and turn left onto K Street NW.
Then, turn right on 16th Street. Stay on 16th Street until Colorado Avenue and
then turn left. Follow signs for Carter Barron Amphitheatre.
Route 270
Take Route 270 eastbound towards Washington, exit onto Wisconsin Avenue, Route
355. Take Wisconsin Avenue southbound and turn left on East-West Highway (Route
410). Turn right on 16th Street, NW. Head southbound on 16th Street and turn
right on Kennedy Street or Colorado Avenue. Follow signs for Carter Barron Amphitheatre.
From Virginia
Route 395
Take route 395 north, and exit onto the GW parkway heading north. Cross the Memorial
Bridge and follow signs for Rock Creek Parkway/Kennedy Center, take Rock Creek
Parkway northbound and bear left onto Beach Drive. After passing through the
stoplight at Park Road, turn right onto Blagden Avenue. Continue on Blagden Avenue
and turn left onto 16th Street. Take next left onto Colorado Avenue and follow
signs for Carter Barron Amphitheatre.
Route 66
Take route 66 east towards Washington. Cross Roosevelt Bridge and follow signs
to turn left on Virginia Avenue, NW, and then turn right onto Rock Creek Parkway.
Follow the Parkway and bear right onto Beach Drive. After passing through the
stoplight at Park Road, turn right onto Blagden Avenue. Continue on Blagden Avenue
and turn left onto 16th Street. Take next left onto Colorado Avenue and follow
signs for Carter Barron Amphitheatre.
Route 123
From route 123, cross Chain Bridge and turn left onto Arizona Avenue. Follow
Arizona Avenue and turn right onto Nebraska Avenue. Continue on until reaching
Van Ness Street and turn right. Cross Wisconsin Avenue and then turn right onto
Reno Road. Take first left onto Tilden Road. Cross Connecticut Avenue and turn
left upon reaching Beach Drive. Turn right on Blagden Avenue. Continue on Blagden
Avenue and turn left onto 16th Street. Take next left onto Colorado Avenue and
follow signs for Carter Barron Amphitheatre.
