Artists in the Community
The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Education Department is proud to customize theatre workshops and experiences for area groups to meet a wide array of goals and initiatives for community engagement. Whether it’s an exciting backstage tour of Sidney Harman Hall, a drama workshop with local Girl Scout troops and Boys and Girls Clubs, or a combined theatre workshop and performance for visiting student groups, STC Education will design a dynamic theatre experience for your community.
THEATRE EXPERIENCE WORKSHOPS
Is the green room really green? Where do the actors go between their entrances and exits? These answers and more interesting secrets are revealed during backstage tours of Sidney Harman Hall! Lasting approximately one hour, the tour winds through the building from actors’ to audience members’ points of view. It includes anecdotes from 25 years of STC productions and a stop at the famous Elvis shrine. Attendees will never see the theatre in quite the same way again.
Afterschool Theatre Workshops
With the belief that theatre skills are also life skills, STC’s Education Department crafts these highly interactive workshops collaboratively with each host organization to ensure that your specific goals and expectations are met.
Career Day Chats
Want to know what it takes to build a career in the theatre? STC organizes panels and discussions that reveal the various facets and potentials of theatre careers. We can arrange a visit to your school or organization, or set up a time when you can visit the theatre and talk to a number of theatre professionals.
Adult Enrichment Workshops
Investigate and explore the timeless work of the greatest writer the world has ever known, William Shakespeare. STC teaching artists will reveal to you the skills and techniques that professional theatre artists and scholars use to understand the work of Shakespeare. Whether you have been a long-time theatre patron or have not seen a play since grade school, this class will broaden your artistic knowledge and vision.
