The Harman Center for the Arts is a 21st-century performing arts center and expanded stage for the Shakespeare Theatre Company and Washington 's performing arts community.

Opening in October 2007, the Harman Center will consist of the new 775-seat Sidney Harman Hall (Sixth and F Streets NW) and the existing 451-seat Lansburgh Theatre (Seventh and E Streets NW). These two superb mid-sized theatres will serve to transform the Shakespeare Theatre Company into a national destination theatre and provide ideal venues for many of Washington 's distinguished performing arts companies. Located in the burgeoning Penn Quarter arts and entertainment district, the Harman Center will be a powerful magnet for tourism and an economic engine for the city of Washington .
