Behind the Scenes:
Stage Properties
Located just outside D.C. on the northeast side of the city, Shakespeare Theatre Company’s two-story prop shop houses a fully equipped construction area in which our multi-talented staff of artisans and painters construct fully functional furniture or display pieces representative of any time period. On the same floor, one finds an extensive storage area for our furniture, decorative items, hand props and a variety of set dressing items. Upstairs, we have additional storage for props and costumes, as well as a painting area, workspace for the construction of hand props and craft items, and a ventilated room for working with chemicals and paints.
