Will on the Hill

Will on the Hill

Harman Hall

Will on the Hill is a bipartisan event that celebrates the past 20 years of bringing the Hill to the stage and raising over $6M for STC’s arts education programs. This year begins with a networking reception before moving into the hall for light-hearted performances by members of Congress, professional actors, and students from STC’s education programs.

PRE-SHOW RECEPTION | 6:30-7:15 p.m. | Orchestra Lobby
A networking reception opens the event with theatrical behind-the-scenes stations, light refreshments, and light-hearted Shakespeare-themed games as you mingle with sponsors, members of Congress and their staff, media personalities, and D.C. VIPs.

THEATRICAL PROGRAM | 7:30 – 8:15 p.m. | Harman Hall
The show begins with members of Congress and other VIPs performing crowd-pleasing Shakespeare passages and sharing the impact of the arts on their lives. The program also includes inspiring performances by professional actors and students of STC’s education programs.

Join us for a brief post-show reception with light refreshments.

Please note: Will on the Hill is free and by invitation only. It has been designed to meet all Congressional ethics standards. Times and event details are subject to change.

Relive the Magic: WOTH 2023 Highlights

For the past 20 years, STC’s Will on the Hill benefit has raised critical funding in support of the theatre’s arts education and engagement programs, which reach students and community members at home, at school, online, and at STC theatres. Joined by Members of Congress across the aisle and celebrating the works of Shakespeare, the bipartisan event has become a mainstay in the Washington, D.C. community.

“Each spring, members of Congress and the media are invited to show off their acting skills (or lack thereof). To play or not to play, that is the question.”
–NBC Washington

“I would suggest putting “Will on The Hill” on your calendar for next May if you want to enjoy a fun night in the theater, see members of Congress act silly intentionally, and help bring Shakespeare to the young people of greater Washington.”
–Washington Blade
