Morphos

Morphos

March 13 & 14
The Forum at Harman Hall

The Shakespeare Theatre Company Academy is a Master of Fine Arts program that trains actors to work with classical language and embody mythic storytelling. This is classical work in its purest form: energetic and lean, with a focus on actors, language, and story.

Inventive, inspiring, and highly physical, this 60-minute production is devised and created by the STC Academy Class of 2026.

MORPHOS
Directed by Alec Wild
Assistant Directed by Saron Araia

Ovid’s Metamorphoses is 2000 years old. The stories are by turns charming, disturbing, and deeply strange; people become trees, spiders, echoes. Gods meddle, desire, and punish on impulse. Mortals absorb the consequences. Through physical storytelling and ensemble devising, the Academy company excavates these ancient myths and finds what still breathes inside them: hunger, vanity, wonder, grief, and always change.
