Theatre is a live, collective experience—a creative process that starts long before the curtain rises and which continues to reverberate long after the final bows. STC Salon is your invitation to become a part of that process, as well as join a community of passionate theatregoers and curious minds. Led by STC Artistic Producer Drew Lichtenberg, Salon features insights from other STC departments as well as visiting artists. In conversations touching on every aspect of the theatrical experience, STC Salon offers the rare opportunity to explore what you see onstage, how it gets there, and why it matters.

What to Expect

STC Salon returns for the 26/27 Season with exciting updates inspired by feedback from our Salon community. Our non-Shakespeare productions will now feature three focused Salon discussions, while Shakespeare productions will continue to feature expanded multi-session explorations.

In addition to these discussions, Salon members will enjoy exclusive access to enrichment opportunities throughout the season, including Behind the Curtain events, symposia, and other special programs.

Each Salon session is a deep, guided conversation about one of STC’s mainstage productions. But it’s more than just talk. As a Salon member, you’ll gain exclusive access to the creative minds behind the work—actors, directors, and designers, yes, but also the brilliant technicians, stage managers, and theatre administrators who turn vision into reality.

From the choices made in a lighting cue to the logistics of building a season, from dramaturgical research to rehearsal breakthroughs, you’ll witness the incredible collaboration it takes to bring each production to life. You’ll hear directly from costume artisans about fabric choices, or from sound designers about how a single moment of silence can shape the emotional landscape of a scene. You may even speak with the producers and program staff who work behind the scenes to support the creative process and connect it with audiences like you.

This is a space where your observations and questions matter. Where every participant’s lived experience adds dimension to the dialogue. Where art is explored not as a finished product, but as a living process shared between creators and audience.
