Will on the Hill is a bipartisan event that celebrates over 20 years of bringing the Hill to the stage and raising over $6M for STC’s arts education programs. This year begins with a networking reception before moving into the hall for light-hearted performances by members of Congress, professional actors, and students from STC’s learning programs.
THEATRICAL PROGRAM | 7:30pm | Harman Hall
The show begins with members of Congress and other VIPs performing crowd-pleasing Shakespeare passages and sharing the impact of the arts on their lives. The program also includes inspiring performances by professional actors and students of STC’s education programs.

For the past 20 years, STC’s Will on the Hill benefit has raised critical funding in support of the theatre’s arts education and engagement programs, which reach students and community members at home, at school, online, and at STC theatres. Joined by Members of Congress across the aisle and celebrating the works of Shakespeare, the bipartisan event has become a mainstay in the Washington, D.C. community.
“Each spring, members of Congress and the media are invited to show off their acting skills (or lack thereof). To play or not to play, that is the question.”
–NBC Washington“I would suggest putting “Will on The Hill” on your calendar…if you want to enjoy a fun night in the theater, see members of Congress act silly intentionally, and help bring Shakespeare to the young people of greater Washington.”
–Washington Blade“A great way for members of Congress to help local youth and poke fun at ourselves at the same time.”
–Senator Roger F. Wicker (R-MS)
