Originally produced at The Joseph Papp Public Theatre/New York Shakespeare festival in 1999, In The Blood takes you inside the life of a homeless mother with five children living under a bridge. With accents of The Scarlet Letter, this play rips and tears into the life of the protagonist Hester La Negrita with a harrowing edge as she seeks to find moments of joy and improve her family’s life in the inner city.
For the third year, Shakespeare Theatre Company is exploring the classical theatre canon with the next generation of actors. Over the course of five weeks, students worked with renowned Dramaturges Dr. Drew Lichtenberg, Dr. Soyica Colbert, and LeeAnét Noble to dig into the themes and meaning of the play. The sessions culminate in a staged reading featuring the students and renowned television and film actor Edwina Findley.
See performances by these up-and-coming actors in a riveting staged reading at the Klein Theatre.
