Planned Giving
"For present comfort and for future good" (A
Winter's Tale, Act V, Scene 1)
Gifts of Appreciated Property
Gifts of appreciated property can allow you to save on taxes in three ways:
- Through the charitable deduction for the market value at the time the gift
is made
- The avoidance of capital gains tax
- The removal of the asset from your estate while providing the Shakespeare
Theatre Company with the full market value as of the date of the gift.
