“Washington’s Most Buzzed About Gala” Washington Life

Under the gracious patronage of His Excellency the British Ambassador and Lady Sheinwald the Harman Center for the Arts Annual Gala honored Ian McKellen for his contribution to classical theatre with the Will Award.

Mickey RooneyThe evening also featured a surprise performance by “the Puck of all Pucks”, Mickey Rooney, who delivered Puck’s final speech to a standing ovation. The evening’s entertainment featured performances by Synetic Theater, Stew, Step Afrika, Soprano Ashleigh Semkiw, Ballet West and the actors of the Shakespeare Theatre Company. Dr. Sidney Harman presented the Sidney Harman Award for Philanthropy in the Arts to Max and Heidi Berry in recognition of their great support of the arts in D.C. Following the performance the guests were transported to an enchanted forest for dinner and dancing at the National Building Museum.
