Youth Classes

All classes will be held at the Shakespeare Theatre Rehearsal Studios, located at 516 Eighth Street SE, Washington, DC.

Tuition is non-refundable.

CAMP SHAKESPEARE PREVIEWRESERVE ALL 4

Including: Acting and Movement, Stage Combat, Acting Shakespeare, Shakespeare in Rehearsal
Saturdays, March 22 - April 12, 2014, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Tuition: $30 per class or $100 for all four classes

Prior Experience: Ages 12-18

Wondering what Camp Shakespeare is really like? Get a preview of the Camp experience before summer begins! Led by classically trained actors and teaching artists from our camp roster, explore an introduction to Acting and Movement, Stage Combat, Acting Shakespeare, and Shakespeare in Rehearsal. We strongly recommend taking the entire series, but students can also register for a single session.

ACTING AND MOVEMENTRESERVE

Saturday, March 22, 2014, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

This class introduces the basic principles of acting, including voice and movement techniques, while guiding students through work as an ensemble.

STAGE COMBATRESERVE

Saturday, March 29, 2014, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

This class explores the basic combat of Shakespeare's players and audiences: from slaps, fisticuffs and tumbling to safe, theatrical Elizabethan dagger technique.

ACTING SHAKESPEARERESERVE

Saturday, April 5, 2014, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

This class will crack open the mysteries of playing Shakespeare, giving students the basic tools to understand and perform his work in an active, immediate way. Students will gain a strong understanding of verse, prose, meter, character and intent to prepare them for continuing study.

SHAKESPEARE IN REHEARSALRESERVE

Saturday, April 12, 2014, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

This class provides students with the opportunity to rehearse and work on scenes from Shakespeare’s plays. Students who register for this course must also be registered for Acting Shakespeare.
