“You know, all that people have to do to stop that sort of thing is to stop that sort of thing.”

A sincere-seeming outsider from the capitol appears in a small town and delivers a stirring speech about the “league of youth.” But who will fund his campaign? Who will he choose to marry? And is this fresh-faced young politician even concerned about the people? In Jeffrey Hatcher’s dizzying farcical adaptation of Ibsen’s little-known 19th-century satire, small-town democracy is revealed as a league of anything but youth.
