Winner Best Overall Show, Best Musical in the 2016 Capital Fringe Festival

"You will walk away from Over Her Dead Body feeling strangely exhilarated, because you’ve discovered a work that manages to be fun and electrifying while at the same time chillingly thought-provoking." – Vanessa Berben, DC Metro Theater Arts

Pinky Swear Productions takes a deep dive into popular melodies of murder and mayhem in their original musical, Over Her Dead Body: A Bluegrass Benediction. Simultaneously rowdy and reverential, the show features a raucous group of talented Pinky Swear company members and friends interpreting classics like Banks of the Ohio, Long Black Veil, Twa Sisters, and Barbara Allen—all backed by D.C.-area-based, women-fronted Bluegrass band, Dead Men’s Hollow.

You'll join the cast and crew of a weekly Bluegrass variety show as they record a special night of traditional murder ballads for the radio. Things quickly start to go awry as uninvited guests—of the spectral variety—begin to reveal the other side of these sadistic stories: the victims. Will they—or you—be able make it out without a little bit of blood on their hands?

Come directly from work, grab a complimentary drink at the Forum bar and transition into the evening with a unique mix of performances.

Happenings Happy Hours bring local artists into conversation with the plays on STC's stages. Over the course of the season, enjoy a range of performances that tie in with the characters, authors and themes of the current production.
