Workshops and Intensives

The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s education department is proud to present
a menu of one-day workshops and intensives to meet the demands and challenges
of a wide variety of constituents. Whether you are a serious actor in need
of further training, a business professional or educator searching for fun,
engaging professional development opportunities or a theatre enthusiast looking
for a way to interact with artists from the Theatre’s mainstage, the
education department has a course that is perfect for you.
All workshops and intensives are $75 unless otherwise noted (regular Master
Acting Class discounts do not apply). Additionally, Shakespeare Theatre Company
can collaboratively design day-long professional development workshops with

business world through the study of techniques used by actors and directors
in the theatre.
Mime Intensive with Mark Jaster Register
Saturday, March 10 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. (one hour lunch break)
The Forum at Sidney Harman Hall, 610 F Street NW
Explore techniques and exercises from Etienne Decroux and Marcel Marceau. Jaster,
who studied with both of these 20th-Century masters, will teach a synthesis
from his 25+ years of performance experience. Exercises will address stillness,
focus, articulation, clarity of gesture, illusion, narrative techniques, character
and style, and some historical context.
Clowning Intensive with Sabrina Mandell Register
Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. (one hour lunch break)
4th Floor Melton Studio – 516 Eighth Street SE
A super-charged, slam-dunk laboratory where the classical actor can get down
to the nitty-gritty of what it means to "take the stage" and PLAY.
