Theatre in the Classroom

Saturdays, October 3 and 10 from 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
Tuition: $30 for DC, MD, VA public, chartered public and independent school
teachers
Do you aim to create a classroom culture in which students are at the center
of their own learning journeys? In this two-part workshop, teachers will learn
a variety of theatre games and activities designed to strengthen communication,
community and collaboration in the classroom. These interactive and engaging
activities address multiple standards of learning and learning styles. Lesson
plans will be provided. Appropriate for elementary and secondary school teachers.
Teaching Literacy through Theatre

Saturdays, October 17 and 24 from 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
Tuition: $30 for DC, MD, VA public, chartered public and independent
school teachers
Do you struggle with how best to address multiple literacy standards within
limited class time? In this two-part workshop, teachers will learn a variety
of theatre games and writing activities that strengthen literacy and critical
thinking skills. Each standard-driven lesson addresses multiple learning styles
while unlocking student creativity and celebrating their imagination. Lesson
plans will be provided. Appropriate for elementary and secondary school
teachers.
Classics in the Classroom

Always wanted to teach Shakespeare in the classroom, but didn’t know
quite where to start? Join Shakespeare Theatre Company’s education department
for a two-part workshop that will share tips, activities and strategies on
how best to engage your students in their exploration of the Bard’s plays.
Lesson plans will be provided. Appropriate for elementary and secondary
school teachers.
