Re:ACT—Residency

In-School Residencies

Looking for a creative and effective means of addressing the standards of learning?  Look no further than Re:ACT In-School Residencies!

Re:ACT In-School Residencies provide practical, hands-on learning opportunities for students utilizing the creative arts, specifically theatre. The central goal of the program is to use theatre techniques to enhance teaching and learning in, through and about the arts. Residencies are tailored to your existing curriculum or programming. Each residency is designed collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide students an experience that deepens curriculum goals, explores Shakespeare texts, or provides students an opportunity to learn about the process of creating theatre. They are taught by experienced teaching artists, many of whom are featured on the stages of the Shakespeare Theatre Company and other theatres around the D.C.-metro area. Re:ACT residencies are fee-based and can be developed as a one-day workshop to semester- or year-long residencies, depending on your needs. Appropriate for students in grade one through high school.

Bring the interactive learning process into your classroom!

Out-of-School Residencies

Whether conducted during non-school hours in a school, community center or parks and recreation center, RE:ACT Out-of-School residencies expose participants to the joy and craft of theatre. Students learn to utilize their bodies, voices and imaginations to develop characters, analyze classic texts and learn and explore the power of story. The students develop confidence, learn to collaborate as an ensemble and strengthen creative expression skills.  Re:ACT residencies are fee-based and can be developed as a one-day workshop to semester- or year-long residencies, depending on your needs. Appropriate for students aged 6 through 18.

*In order to provide the optimum experience for your students, please book residencies at least four weeks in advance of your anticipated start date. Fees are based on the type, residency length, degree of customization and number of students impacted. Mileage may be accessed for programs beyond the metro area.
