Guide to the Season's Plays
Each season the Education Department prepares a comprehensive Guide to
the Season’s Plays, featuring insightful essays by local scholars,
detailed synopses of the plays, photos and graphic materials from past productions,
biographies on the playwrights, a season overview and a topical overview
pertaining to ours and Shakespeare’s world.
The Guide is available for purchase online (click
here to purchase) and in the Lansburgh Theatre and Harman
Hall gift shops, as well as after performances of Happenings at the
Harman. Shakespeare Theatre Company season subscribers may purchase
the Guide at a discounted rate. In conjunction with Asides,
the Guide provides a full set of tools to appreciate the artists
of the Shakespeare Theatre Company and the performances on our stage.

First Folio: Teacher Curriculum Guides
First
Folio: Teacher Curriculum Guides are designed to complement attendance
at SHAKESPEARIENCE performances
and all School Programs. For the 2009-2010 season, First
Folio Guides will
be developed for As You Like It, Henry V, Richard II and The Liar. First
Folio Guides prepare students
to attend the performance by providing information about the play and the
playwright, including: a plot synopsis, background information on the world
and the characters of the play, pre- and post-performance activity ideas
and questions for discussion. The design allows teachers to easily incorporate
the material into the classroom. First Folio Guides are sent to
all teachers participating in programs with the Education Department.
