Prepared by the Education Department each year, the comprehensive Guide features
a full range of essays designed to strengthen the audience’s understanding
of the work on STC’s stages. The Guide includes insightful
essays by scholars, detailed synopses of the plays, photos from past productions,
biographies of the playwrights, a season overview and a topical overview pertaining
to ours and Shakespeare’s world.

 First Folio: Teacher Curriculum Guides
First
Folio: Teacher Curriculum Guides are designed to complement attendance
at SHAKESPEARIENCE performances
and all School Programs. First
Folio Guides prepare students
to attend the performance by providing information about the play and the
playwright, including: a plot synopsis, background information on the world
and the characters of the play, pre- and post-performance activity ideas
and questions for discussion. The design allows teachers to easily incorporate
the material into the classroom. First Folio Guides are sent to
all teachers participating in programs with the Education Department.
