Professional Development for Teachers
The demands on teachers are ever-changing as the divide between student skill
levels and learning styles increase. Arts-infused learning is an effective
strategy to address student achievement. Professional development workshops
offer classroom teachers of all grade levels practical, hands-on strategies
that enhance students’ learning experience. The strategies and curriculum
for professional development workshops align with the standards of learning
for D.C., VA and MD. The workshops focus on:
- Improving critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Increasing literacy skills
- Fostering higher order and transferable thinking skills such as analysis,
synthesis and reflection
- Developing increased capability in the areas of imagination, creativity
and judgment.
- Creating arts-infused lesson plans
