Prior Experience: Not required.
Dive into the riveting world of dramatic text by way of music, movement, and interpretation. During this course students will explore selected Shakespearean Sonnets and reimagine them into musical moments. Set to live drumming in class, students will also find new meanings while creating a modern dance routine. In this exciting course students will stretch the boundaries of text, turning sonnets into songs, adding rhythms to iambic pentameter and more.

From the Syllabus:
Week 1: Discover the Sonnet
Students will dive into popular Sonnets and select two as a class that have “movement” and tell a story.
Week 2: The Process
Students will dive into the process of choreographing a routine and creating a score using text.
Week 3: Movement
Students will create a dance routine that coincides with the selected Sonnet(s).
Week 4: Music
Students will work with the drummer/teacher to create the sounds of the Sonnet and dance routine.
Week 5: Final Composition
Students will put together all of the components to create a full music, movement, and text experience.
