Auditions
Thank you for your interest in the Shakespeare Theatre Company.
We cast both Equity and non-Equity actors in our season on a show by show basis. In
general our auditions are by invitation only.
If you would like to be considered for our upcoming season, please submit

We review every photo and resume that we receive, and we contact actors individually
to schedule auditions based on their experience and training.
General Auditions
There are several ways to audition for our theatre without an invitation. We
attend the Washington / Baltimore AEA Liaison auditions and League of Washington
Theatres (LOWT) auditions, and hold Equity Principal Auditions (EPAs) in DC
and either New York, Chicago or Los Angeles each year. Please contact Actors’ Equity
to find out more information about EPAs.
We prefer to see New York actors during our New York auditions, rather than
having them travel to Washington. If you live outside New York or Washington
but plan to be in the D.C. area and would like to be considered for an audition,
please let us know when you submit your headshot and resume the dates that
you will be in town. We will review your resume and contact you to arrange
an audition if possible.
Our Acting Fellow Company
Each spring, we hold auditions for our Non-Equity Acting Fellowship in New York
and Washington. Acting Fellows are contracted for an entire season and
act as the ensemble for each of our plays, playing a variety of supporting
roles and understudies throughout the season. If you are interested in
being considered for the Acting Fellowship, please click the link on the right
for application information.
Please note that we sometimes hire additional non-Equity actors on a show-by-show
basis, especially those who are based in the Washington area.
